WORLD ART CAR DAY
(WACD)
Back in the late 90's, a few artcar folks around the country decided to create a national holiday to celebrate artcars. The first few World Art Car Days were various artcar artists around the country (Houston, Baltimore, New York City, West Coast) posting to each other about where we would be for that day. Often it meant sitting by/in your art car in a parking lot somewhere with a hand made sign that said "Happy World Art Car Day", and fielding questions from passers-by.
We've come a long way since then.
Houston has the largest and most organized WACD celebration that includes brunch, a Mini-Artcar Making Workshop for children, and of course, the now famous Nighttime Illuminated Cruise. (NIC)
If you have an art car, join us for any or all of the events, if you just like looking at the cars, or hope to make one yourself someday, join us for any and all of the events, or keep an eye out for us on the streets of Houston on the Second Saturday in November.
A wonderful day to spend with each other and celebrate what we do - make and drive arted vehicles!
