The Houston Art Car Klub! was formed in the early 90's by a few local artists before the world wide web was commonly used. We are not, and never will be, a non-profit organization. Our founding members include Nicole Strine, Bryan Taylor, Penny Smith (who coined the name, spelling and punctuation of Houston Art Car Klub!), Harry Leverette, Tom Kennedy, Moira and Tom LaFaver... and others that time and loss of memory have left their names out of this list!
The Klub is currently (late 2017-early 2018) transitioning over to new leadership. Nicole Strine was Houston Art Car Klub President for 11 years. Kristie Odom, with help from Rebecca Lowe, will be taking the reigns. Before Nicole, the Klub was lead by David Moore, who took on the role for a few months, and before him was the Reverand Bryan Taylor, who we all looked to for leadership for 12 years. Please enjoy the picture below showing Rebecca and Kristie, dressed like Nicole, during a fun Presidential transition skit at our annual Trader's Village Art Car Show in 2017. Bryan is sandwiched in the middle. Houston is the art car capital of the world. This is a contagious group of people, and an even more contagious hobby. We have meetings every couple of months and do some fun things together throughout the year. Our calendar can be linked on the left.
